
Tulane Track & Field Opens Florida Relays

NEW ORELANS - The Tulane women's track and field team heads to Gainesville, Fla., for the 2009 Florida Relays at Percy Beard Track in James G. Pressly Stadium. Tulane will take part in 13 events as action gets underway Friday.
Shaina Pelham and Aiesha Brooks will lead things off for Tulane at 1 p.m. in the 400-meter, followed by Olivia Kizzee in the 100-meter dash at 2:20 p.m.
Zandria Debowles takes on the 400-meter hurdles field at 3:40, while Tulane record holder Katarina Busljeta competes in the hammer throw at 6 p.m. Friday's final entry is Rebecca Coady, in the 3000-meter steeplechase at 6:30 p.m.
On Saturday, the meet continues with Ana Ruzevic in the javelin at 1:30 p.m., looking for her third NCAA regional qualifying distance of the outdoor season. At 3:10, the Tulane 4x100 relay squad is in action, followed by Busljeta in the discuss at 3:30.
Kizzee competes in the 200-meter dash at 4:10, with distance runners Keriann Langley and Julia Whitrock taking part in the 5000-meter run at 4:30. The meet will conclude at 6:30 p.m. with the 4x400 relay squads.
The field of over 47 schools includes Alabama, Alabama State, Albany, Arkansas, Bethune-Cookman, Boston College, Boston U.,Cal St. Fullerton, Catholic, Central Florida, Charlotte, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Dayton, Delaware State, East Tennessee State, Florida, Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Florida State, George Mason, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Illinois, Jackson State, Jacksonville, Kentucky, Maryland, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Miami, Mississippi, Navy, Norfolk State, Northeastern, Savannah State, South Alabama, South Carolina, South Florida, Tampa, Temple, Tennessee, Villanova, Western Kentucky and Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
