On facing a number of Conference USA teams in this weekend's Rice Classic
"We are actually very excited to play this tournament. As I told the girls in our meeting before our practice time today that this is our preview of conference. This will show you where you stack up this year. I feel very confident that our team has gotten better. We're getting older and more knowledgeable. This will be a good test for us. We're just really excited to play. The weather is going to be great. The girls are excited. We're having a great fall and we're looking to stack up some more wins."
On if she is concerned that Kurdadze or Levy might be fatigued after playing in the Women's All-American
"Mariam and Emma took Monday off to get some rest and get some studying done, but they're ready for this. We're using the Rice tournament in preparation for the regionals, which is in less than two weeks. That's the big one. We're sort of viewing this as a warm-up tournament."
On if she expects her team to continue its solid play in the third tournament of the fall season
"The girls are very fit, they're very ready and they're excited to play this tournament. They know what playing conference teams can mean. We're just looking to continue our reign if you will. We've had an amazing fall and we'll see how this weekend pans out. I have a feeling it's going to be a great weekend for the Wave."
On if she is concerned that her team may be somewhat complacent based on their overall success to date
"I'd like to think that I keep their ego under control in practice. As far as Mariam and Emma (are concerned), they went to the All-American and saw firsthand what the next level is like. I don't really worry about an ego standpoint right now, but it can happen. I just tell them that if you lose to a person you're not supposed to lose to, you need to understand why. You can't size somebody up by who they play for, where they're from or what school they play for. It doesn't matter. Everybody is out there just to go after each other. I don't really worry about ego right now. If it did come into play, we would have that talk. But I'm not going to bring it up. I'm just going to tell them to keep doing their best because that's been our motto all year. Keep doing your best, find a way to win and everything else is going to be okay."
