Celebrate 100 Seasons of Green Wave Basketball

NEW ORLEANS - The first 100 seasons of Tulane basketball has rolled by and the Green Wave Athletic Department is celebrating the historic milestone throughout the 2010-11 season.
Tulane will recognize the theme of "Celebrating 100 Seasons of Tulane Basketball" all season long as players, coaches, and teams from each decade will be honored. The formal activities will begin with the opening of Conference USA play in January.
"This is a great opportunity as we begin a new era of Tulane basketball," Ed Conroy said. "We are bringing our entire Tulane basketball family together and back on campus this year."
"This celebration will add a lot of excitement to Fogelman Arena this season," Tulane Athletics Director Rick Dickson said. "Tulane basketball has a proud and often times storied tradition and we are excited to welcome back the players and coaches that created that success during the first 100 seasons. In addition, we are excited to have Ed Conroy lead us into the next era of Tulane Basketball."
Fans will be called upon to visit www.tulanegreenwave.com/100years and vote for the top five players from each of the following eras: 1905-1949, the 1950's, the 1960s, the 1970s, the 1980s, the 1990s and the 2000s. All former Tulane men's basketball players will be invited back to join in the celebration which will close with the culmination event on Saturday, February 19. The 1905-1949 teams will be honored on Saturday, Jan. 8 when Tulane hosts SMU, the 1950s team members will be recognized on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at the UTEP game. The decade of the 60s will be honored on Saturday, Jan. 22 at the Tulsa game.
The 1970s decade will be recognized at the Rice game on Wednesday, Feb. 2, while the 1980s will be honored at the Saturday, Feb. 5 game against UAB. The 1990's, including Tulane's three NCAA Tournament teams, will be honored on Wednesday, Feb. 16 when Tulane hosts UCF. The 2000s players will be recognized when the Green Wave host Marshall on Saturday, Feb. 19 and the announcement of the fan voted All-Century team will also be on Feb. 19.
Tulane will cap the regular season in Fogelman Arena with a celebration of the first season of the next decade of Green Wave basketball by honoring the 2010-11 senior class on March 2 against Houston.
