Overall thoughts on the game
"It was a much-better second half for us. I don't know if it was nerves or what, but we just didn't play hard or smart in the first half. In the second half, we calmed down a little bit. The defensive pressure came up and we just made some shots."
On the performance of sophomore Olivia Grayson
"I think she's a great player. Last year we had a lot of success and she really came through in the clutch. With some people injured, she knew she had to take the team on her shoulders a little bit tonight and she did. It was good to see her play that confidently."
On the return of post players Brett Benzio and Brittany Lindsey
"I think at first she was a little nervous and missed some easy shots. The thing I liked the most about having Brittany and Brett back in there, it altered a lot of shots in the paint. They really didn't a lot of shots inside, and I think that's something we really missed last year. That'll prove to be very beneficial for us in the future."
On the performance of freshman Whitney Bibbins
"That was not a bad debut. She played a lot of minutes for a freshman, but I thought she did a great job. One thing that probably didn't show in the stats is defensively, I really thought she was one of our better players out there tonight. She's going to put up some good numbers and she's going to be a fun one to watch."
On the injury situation
"We had two people cramping and we had Ty with an eye injury. Laura is a post player and we didn't feel like that was the right player to go in, and the other was a walk-on. That was one of the things we were concerned about tonight in case someone got in foul trouble or got injured. I'm just glad the team was able to hang together and be able to finish it."
On the difference between the first and second halves
"I felt like we weren't being the aggressor. We were playing passively and not looking to make mistakes. We needed to come out there and be a lot more aggressive offensively and defensively and we did. I thought the second half, we were a lot calmer and made a lot better decisions."
On Tulane playing with a limited rotation
"Brittany Lindsey hasn't played in a year. Whitney Bibbins is a freshman, and Brett hasn't picked up a basketball since we played Georgia until the last two weeks. You also had Tiffany and Shaun in foul trouble. There was one time when I looked out there, and of the people on the floor there were only two who were really out there when we played some games last year. It's a great experience for the ones like Whitney and Ty who haven't had that kind of experience. It'll be good experience for them."
Sophomore Guard Olivia Grayson
On the second-half come-back against South Alabama
"We came out more focused and with more energy. Our posts knocked down some shots and we missed some easy shots at the beginning of the game. We got to the free-throw line more. We picked up our intensity on defense and that helped us limit them to a lot of one-shot trips down the court."
On her performance against South Alabama
"I was just feeling it. I felt like I was going to make it, so I shot it. It was going in. My teammates were encouraging me to keep shooting, saying `Keep shooting it Turtle,' so I just kept on shooting."
