Green Wave Hosts Centenary In Home Opener

NEW ORLEANS - After splitting a two-game road swing to open the 2010-11 season, the Tulane men's basketball team hosts Centenary in the home opener on Friday at 7 p.m. CST in Fogelman Arena.
"I've liked Fogelman the minute I walk in to see the potential in this place," Tulane first-year head coach Ed Conroy said. "I got a taste of it with Loyola and I can't wait to coach a real game in here."
Tulane (1-1) defeated Maryland-Eastern Shore, 91-62, last Friday in Princess Anne, Md., and fell at No. 20 Georgetown, 69-53, on Monday night in Washington D.C.
Centenary (0-3) also opened the season with a pair of road losses before falling at home to Arkansas-Monticello, 82-70, on Wednesday night. The Gents fell to Memphis and Tennessee-Martin.
"They are aggressive and are going to change defenses on us and give us a different look," Conroy said. "They are well coach and are trying to find themselves a little bit here early."
Senior guard Kris Richard leads the Green Wave with 17.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, including posting a 22-point, nine rebounds performance at Georgetown on Monday. Sophomore forward Kendall Timmons is averaging 14.5 points and 10.5 rebounds.
The Gents, out of the Summit League, are led by senior guard Roman Tubner with 13.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
This will be the 16th meeting between the two programs and the first since a 92-76 Tulane victory on Nov. 20, 2001. The Green Wave lead the series, 12-3, including seven straight wins.
The Green Wave completes the two-game home stand by hosting Maryville University on Monday at 7 p.m. CST in Fogelman Arena.
