
Olivia Grayson Named LSWA Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS - Tulane hoops standout Olivia Grayson was named Louisiana Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the Louisiana Sports Writers Association announced on Tuesday based on a vote of state-wide media members.
A native of Metairie, La., Grayson earned the weekly honor after averaging 18.0 points, 6.7 rebound and 3.7 assists per game during the Green Wave's three-game week which saw them sandwich a 54-52 win at LSU and an 80-62 victory over Cal State Fullerton around an 83-76 loss to Portland State.
The LSWA weekly honor is the first of Grayson's career, and she becomes the first Tulane player to earn the recognition since Roshaunda Barnes was tabbed Louisiana Player of the Week on Feb. 22, 2010.
For the week, Grayson shot .400 from the field (18-of-45), .462 from beyond the 3-point arc (6-of-13) and .705 from the free-throw line (12-of-17). She led Tulane in scoring with 21 points in the midweek win at LSU, connecting on 7-of-15 shots from the field, 2-of-6 from 3-point land and 5-of-9 free throws. She also added six rebounds and a pair of assists against the Tigers.
In the loss to Portland State, Grayson logged her first double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds while chipping in with three assists and a steal against the Vikings. She wrapped up the week by scoring 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting, 3-of-5 3-pointers and 5-of-6 free throws in Sunday's win over Cal State Fullerton. Grayson added six assists and three rebounds in the contest against the Titans.
Grayson averaged 37.7 minutes per game for the week, including 40-minute efforts at LSU and vs. Portland State. In addition, she was earned All-Tournament honors at the Colliers International Classic after averaging 16.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 0.5 steals in the Green Wave's two-game stint in Berkeley, Calif.
For the season, Grayson leads Tulane with 93 points, 15.5 points per game, 42 rebounds, 7.0 rebounds per game and 25 assists. She also ranks second on the team with seven 3-pointers and tied for second on the squad with six steals.
Grayson and the Green Wave return to action on Friday, Dec. 3, when Tulane opens play in the Big Easy Classic against Saint Joseph's at 7 p.m. in Fogelman Arena. The three-day event continues on Saturday when St. Joe's plays Detroit at 5 p.m., and the tourney concludes on Sunday when the Green Wave battle Detroit at 4 p.m.
Season tickets for the 2010-11 Tulane women's basketball season can still be purchased through the Tulane Athletics Ticket Office. Floor seats are $100 each while reserved and general admission tickets go for $85 and $50, respectively. In addition, Green Wave fans can purchase a Family 4-Pack (two adult, two youth tickets) for $150. Tulane faculty and staff can purchase season tickets at all levels for half price.
