HEAD COACH Lisa Stockton
On Tulane committing a season-high 26 turnovers
"We tried to create a little too much. They played a really aggressive zone the whole game and we tried to create a little too much and gave the ball to them. We're a team that against a zone, you've got to get the ball to people likeTiff andyou've got to let the offense work for you. We just weren't in the places where we needed to be."
On the 3-point shooting of Tiffany Aidoo
"We felt like she was going to get some open shots today. I didn't know that she was going to be 6-of-7. We felt like against that zone, going inside-out, getting the ball to Brett and kicking it out, or going to Brett and Brittany and being able to finish over smaller players was a little more of our gameplan. We haven't turned the ball over very much all year, so I didn't put that in the gameplan at all. I didn't think we would do that. I have to give Nicholls a lot of credit. They really helped, scraped for the ball and created a lot."
On the Nicholls State defense
"They played a little bit of a stiffer zone, sort of like we have in the past when we played all guards and did a lot of full-court press. We didn't extend the court a whole lot today. I think Nicholls came out to play. They shot so well in the first half - I think they had seven 3s in the first half - and our goal was certainly to shut them down in the second half and they only had three."
On what she thought was the turning point in the game
"I thought when we came out in the second half, we really got control really early. We started both bigs and that really helped us. They got one shot and were out. We had a presence in the paint. We could guard a little further out and when they went into the paint, we had our big players in there to block shots. That helped us defensively."
On the field of the 2010 Tulane/DoubleTree Classic
"I think this is a really competitive tournament. It's good to be in the finals. I think this game is a coin-flip that we can win. Both teams are really good and have played good schedules."
SENIOR FORWARD Tiffany Aidoo
On her offensive performance against Nicholls State
"I guess my shot was just falling today. Overall, we just did a whole lot better in the second half. I wouldn't necessarily say that my shots kept us in the game. I think the posts did a lot. Brett and Brittany did a lot inside and scored a lot of buckets. We've got to give them a lot of credit. Other people picked it up, too."
On Tulane committing 26 turnovers
"I think we were trying to rush it too much on offense. We saw open looks, but I think we should have been a little more patient and we could have gotten better passes and less tournovers."
On the performance of the Nicholls State defense
"I think we needed to be a little tougher today. There was a lot of contact. There was a lot of reaching involved and that is what caused turnovers. I think we had to be a lot more patient. We should have expected that. Toughness is what we have to have sometimes when we have teams that are really aggressive like that."
