NEW ORLEANS - Tulane's Ed Conroy has announced the additions of assistant coaches Andy Fox, Harold Juluke and Doug Novak to the men's basketball coaching staff and also announced the hiring of Ronnie Hamilton as the director of basketball operations, the university announced on Sunday.
"I am extremely excited about being able to put together this staff," Conroy said. "I feel like they will complement each other well, represent Tulane University and our basketball program in an outstanding way, and be great role models and mentors for our student-athletes. The coaching carousel brought opportunities for all of them this spring and the fact that they all chose Tulane is a testament that they feel the commitment everyone here is putting toward the basketball program."
Fox, Novak and Hamilton all come to Tulane from The Citadel where they coached under Conroy, while Juluke comes home to New Orleans from the University of Louisiana-Monroe.
Fox, a native of Davenport, Iowa, spent the last four seasons at The Citadel with Conroy. Prior to his stint at the Citadel he was as a graduate assistant at the University of Tennessee under head coach Bruce Pearl. Fox completed his master's in sports psychology at UT after earning his undergraduate degree from Cornell College in Iowa in 2004.
"Andy brings an incredible work ethic to Tulane," Conroy said. "He is a dedicated teacher and student of the game."
During his time in school, Fox was a four-year letter winner on the court and served as the team captain as a junior and senior and finished his career second in school history in assists.
Juluke, a New Orleans native and a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University, comes to Tulane after spending four years as an assistant coach at ULM under Orlando Early.
"Harold is coming home to New Orleans," Conroy said. "He has a great reputation in this region and this city as a coach and recruiter."
Prior to his time at ULM, Juluke served as the Director of Basketball Operations at Hartford University for two seasons while earning a master's degree in business administration.
The St. Augustine High School graduate, Juluke earned two letters on the basketball court at SLU after transferring from Hartford where he also lettered twice.
Novak, a native of Brandon, S.D., also spent the last four seasons at The Citadel working with Conroy and brings a wealth of experience with him to Tulane, having been a head coach for 10 seasons at the college level.
"Doug is an outstanding teacher and communicator," Conroy said. "Coaches from all levels have come to watch him work with players."
Novak spent seven seasons as head coach at Anderson (S.C.) College, winning the program's first conference championship. He also served as the head coach at Iowa Western Community College for three seasons where he posted two of the most successful seasons in school history in one of the best junior college leagues in the nation.
Hamilton will serve as Conroy's Director of Operations for the Green Wave after spending the last two years as his assistant coach at The Citadel.
"Ronnie had a lot of options this spring and I'm very excited he chose Tulane," Conroy said. "He has a very bright future because of his dedication, organization and ability to work with young people."
A native of Oxford, N.C., Hamilton enters his eighth year of coaching in the collegiate ranks, his first two as a graduate assistant at UNC Pembroke. He also spent three seasons as an assistant at Tarleton State, a Division II school in Texas. During his time there, the Texans averaged 23 wins per season, including two NCAA Tournament appearances and a trip to the Elite Eight in 2006.
The last two season at the Citadel, Hamilton helped guide the Bulldogs to the most wins in a two-year span in the program's history and the first postseason appearance in school history.
