Overall thoughts on the game
"A team comes in here shooting 25 percent from 3. They shoot 63 tonight. They shoot 19 free throws and we shoot four. I think we're one of the top teams in the league in getting to the free throw line and we got there four times. It's hard to make up that differential. (Rice's) scoring comes from the post, not usually from the perimeter. They're (second) leading scorer, we held to five points. The other one got the free throws. She had 14, but she was 8-for-10 in free throws. We held her to three baskets. It's just disappointing. At the end, that's usually where we're good. In the last two overtime losses, we just haven't been very good in the last two minutes."
On Rice's performance from the 3-point arc
"When people have post players in there, you've got to help out with the post. One of their shots was 23 feet from the basket. I think people are playing well against us. I think they're coming in here, playing really well and they have nothing to lose. The target is on our back and we have to be ready to go with peoples' best night. We got Southern Miss' best night and we got their best night. This was by far their best shooting night. The stuff that we create is getting to the free throw line. That's how we stay in games. We just couldn't get the calls."
On the performance of Brittany Lindsey off the bench
"I thought Brittany did a tremendous job. She and Tiffany both got some big baskets for us. Every time we got it in there, I thought we got a good shot. In a way, I didn't think our score was as much of an issue as it was how many twos we traded for threes or free throws on the other end. Offensively we shot 41 percent. We shoot 41 percent from the 3-point line and 75 percent from the free throw line - of course we only got four. But it's tough to trade twos for threes."
On having to put this game behind them quickly and get ready for UTEP on Sunday
"I'm glad we've got a quick turnaround. I'd hate to sit on this for a week. I give Rice a lot of credit. They came out and hit some shots. They may be open shots, but they are 25 percent shooters so you have to play the odds. I think that they came and gave us their best game."
On Tulane having the exact same record now as it did after 20 games a year ago
"Our approach is this - we can't lose our confidence. We won a lot of games. I don't think we played very well in our last three games, but I think we've got to just let it go. I think this is a good team. I think we've got good players. We've got great chemistry. We just have to execute down the stretch. The other thing I challenged them with is we've got to have a little more of a sense of urgency in the first half. We've got to play better in the first half and play with better energy."
