SPARTANBURG, S.C. - After the thrilling victory over Georgia Tech on Saturday, the Tulane men's basketball gets a second road test of the season when they visit Wofford on Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT at the Benjamin Johnson Arena.
The Green Wave (9-0) defeated Georgia Tech, 57-52, in front of a near capacity crowd at Fogelman Arena Saturday led by Ricky Tarrant's 24 points and seven rebounds and Josh Davis' 11 points and 10 rebounds for his seventh double double of the season.
Wofford (4-4, 1-1 SoCON) is coming off an 82-63 victory over the Citadel on Saturday to improve to 1-1 in conference play. The Terriers are 2-1 at home this season, including the win over the Bulldogs.
"I wanted to make this like a conference weekend even though this is a Saturday-Tuesday, with two tough games against conference-like opponents, one at home and one on the road," Tulane head coach Ed Conroy said. "Wofford will give us a heck of a test. They've been to the last two NCAA Tournament and are a very sound and well coached team."
Tulane is led by Davis with 14.0 points and 10.9 rebounds per game, while Kendall Timmons is scoring 14.2 points, Tarrant is posting 11.4 points and Jordan Callahan is adding 10.9 points a game. As a team the Green Wave is scoring 72.6 points a contest and outscoring opponents by a 20.9 average margin.
Wofford is led by senior guard Kevin Giltner with 16.0 points per game and senior guard Brad Loesing with 12.4 points a contest. The Terriers average 60.9 points a game and are shooting 42.2 percent from the floor.
This will be the first meeting between the two schools, although Conroy is no stranger to Wofford, having coach four seasons at their conference foe the Citadel.
Tulane returns home to host the Skip Prosser Tournament Friday-Sunday in Fogelman Arena. The tournament gets underway Friday night when Southern and MacMurray square off at 7 p.m. CT. The Green Wave host MacMurray Saturday at 7 p.m. CT after Jacksonville State plays Southern at 4:30 p.m. CT. The tournament concludes Sunday when Tulane and Jacksonville State battle at 7 p.m. CT.
