Men's Tennis Defeats UCF, 4-0

NEW ORLEANS - The temperature was cold on Sunday morning, but the Tulane men's tennis was hot, defeating UCF, 4-0, in the opening Conference USA dual match of the spring season in the Hilton River Center Indoor Tennis Center.
The match was moved indoors due to the cold temperature in New Orleans on Sunday morning.
The Green Wave (4-3, 1-0 C-USA) won for the second straight match by taking the doubles point and winning all three singles matches. The match was ended once four team points per secured.
"I'm very proud of the guys today," Tulane head coach Mark Booras said. "It was truly a collaborative effort from our number one team all the way to our no. 10 guy whether they were playing or cheering. It really pushed us and allowed our guys to believe in themselves and pull off the win. UCF was an extremely tough team."
The doubles teams of Idan Mark and Joe Young and Rodrigo Rappaccioli and Shaye Wali each won to earn Tulane the point in doubles. Mark and Young defeated UCF's (2-3, 0-1 C-USA) Erik Brunskog and Eugene Dolgovykh, 8-4, on court one, while Rappaccioli and Wali got past Mario Samson and Joe Delinks, 9-7, on court two.
Mark then secured Tulane's second point of the match by cruising to a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Jorge Blasco on court one in singles. Wali got past Brunskog, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, on court two to earn the Green Wave's third point, while Young's 3-6, 7-5, 7-5, win on court three over Samson sealed the victory.
Tulane will travel to Baton Rouge on Wednesday to face No. 28 LSU at 5 p.m. CT.
