NEW ORLEANS - With only three regular season games remaining, the Tulane men's basketball team returns to Fogelman Arena to begin the stretch run against Tulsa at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday.
The game will be broadcast live on Cox Sports Television (Ch. 37 on cable in the New Orleans area) and can also be heard live on the Tulane IMG Sports Network (690 AM/104.9 FM in the New Orleans area) as well as online at www.tulanegreenwave.com all-access.
The Green Wave (15-12, 3-10 C-USA) enter the game having dropped four straight, the longest losing streak of the season. Tulane is coming off back-to-back road losses at UAB and SMU.
Tulsa (16-11, 9-4 C-USA) has won two of three and nine of the last 11, including a victory over Rice at home last Saturday.
"They are one of the most talented teams in the league and they played a very tough non-conference schedule," Tulane head coach Ed Conroy said. "During league play they are always right there even if they don't get the win. They are a team that really gave us trouble at their place with their size and physicality. They blocked just about everything we took to the basket. We are going to need to do a better job at sharing the basketball this time around and getting better shots."
Tulsa won the previous meeting, 60-56, back on Jan. 18 in the Reynolds Center. The Golden Hurricane blocked 12 Tulane shots and overcame a 32-25 Green Wave lead at halftime.
Ricky Tarrant, the five-time reigning Conference USA Freshman of the Week, leads Tulane with 15.5 points per game and is the top scorer in the conference in league games with 19.5 points per outing. The guard posted 21 points in the loss at SMU on Wednesday.
Jordan Callahan, a junior guard, is averaging 11.9 points per contest for Tulane, while sophomore forward Josh Davis is posting 10.6 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.
Tulane is shooting 42.8 percent from the floor this season and averaging 65.4 points per game.
Sophomore guard Jordan Clarkson leads Tulsa with 16.4 points per outing, while junior guard Scottie Haralson is scoring 11.4 points a game.
The Golden Hurricane is averaging 66.3 points per contest and is shooting 45.0 percent from the floor.
This will be 13th meeting between the two schools. Tulsa owns an 8-4 series lead that includes four straight wins. This will be the fifth game of the series played in Fogelman Arena. Each team has won twice.
Tulane hits the road for the final time of the regular season on Wednesday as they visit Houston for a 7 p.m. CT in Hofheinz Pavilion.
BRING YOUR BEADS: Bead donation stations will be set up at the entrance to Fogelman Arena for the Tulane men's basketball team's Saturday game against Tulsa and the collection will be in collaboration with St. Michael's Special School, a local institution designed to help students with major learning difficulties that hinder their ability to achieve success in a regular class setting. Any amount of beads is acceptable and all who donate will receive a voucher valid for a ticket to the women's basketball game vs. Houston on March 1, the men's basketball game against East Carolina on March 3 or the baseball team's series with Brown from March 16-18. The beads will be given to the JOY (Jobs of Youth) Center at St. Michael's, which is an activity center for the school's graduates after the age of 21. The JOY Center recycles, packages and sells the carnival beads each year as a fundraiser for the school and the center.
