Kolby Morgan Named Louisiana Player of the Month
Dec 1, 2014 | Women's Basketball
BATON ROUGE, La. - The Louisiana Sports Writers Association just announced that Tulane's Kolby Morgan was the November Women's Basketball Player of the Month. The New Orleans native leads the team in points (15.3), rebounds (7.2) and steals (1.8) and ranks in the top-15 in the American Athletic Conference in the above mentioned three categories. Tulane is off to its fourth 5-1 start in the past five years.
"Once again, this staff is proud of the hard work Kolby (Morgan) has put in and we are happy to see her named Louisiana Player of the Month for November," Tulane head coach Lisa Stockton stated. "She has done a great job on both ends of the floor for us thus far; so now, it's about maintaining that focus and drive throughout the season."
The accolade already marks the fifth one for Morgan this season, earning The American Freshman of the Week award in the first two weeks, and then landing on the conference's honor roll list earlier today. In addition, Morgan was just named to the All-Hofstra Tournament Team after scoring a combined 36 points in Hempstead, New York.
The 5'8" guard posted six straight games with double-digit scoring, including a career high 25 points vs Western Kentucky. Morgan then followed that performance with her first career double-double in an 11-point, 10-rebound showing vs Northern Iowa.
Fans can watch Morgan and the rest of the Green Wave in action this Wednesday, when Tulane hosts Nicholls State at 7 p.m. CT, inside Devlin Fieldhouse. Wednesday's contest will feature this season's second $20,000 dice roll opportunity. Furthermore, students will get the chance to earn one of eight $100 Southwest Airlines gift cards given out at the game.
Single game tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online, via calling the ticket office at 504-861-WAVE (9283) or in person at the Wilson Athletics Center on Ben Weiner Drive. Season tickets are also available and begin as low as $50.
