Coach Momic's Quotes Following Wednesday's Loss To Houston
Oct 7, 2015 | Women's Volleyball
Overall thoughts on the match
"Again, the girls fought all the way through but we were short a couple of points. We tried a different system, which I think really benefited us in this match, and we were able to take it to five. We just have to keep working on playing better overall. We've talked about playing more fundamentally-sound volleyball. We need to match our size, blocking and hitting with better ball control. Houston is a really solid ball-control team, especially in defense and transition offense. A couple of errors at the end cost us the match. Overall, we had a great effort. In the last three matches, we lost in five by a couple of points. But the big thing is the effort is there and that's something we can build on."
On showing obvious improvement but dropping the last three matches in five sets
"It's frustrating but we have to think about the positives. We're doing so many things well. We've taken some good teams to five. Now we have to figure out what else we need to add to that, keep working and stay positive. Once we earn it, we're going to start winning more."
On running a 6-2 offense
"There are a couple of things I think this system will help us with. It makes sense and we ran it pretty well considering we've only really practiced it for one day. We need to get better within the system and find everybody's role. That's what's important for us now. The move makes sense, we wanted to try it and it obviously helped us."
