NEW ORLEANS - Tulane women's basketball junior guard Courtnie Latham picked up some post-holiday presents on Monday morning in the form of two weekly Player of the Week honors. Both the American Athletic Conference and College Sports Madness named Latham as the top conference player of last week, marking Tulane's first American Player of the Week of the 2015-16 season. In addition, senior forward Tierra Jones earned American Honor Roll honors.
Latham powered the Green Wave offense to a 66-58 win over Saint Louis last Monday, capturing the program's 16th overall Tulane Classic title. Latham secured a career high 23 points, in which 16 points came in the second half. The junior also recorded a perfect 12-for-12 night from the free-throw line, which also marked a new career high and an individual season best for a Tulane player. Furthermore, Latham earned all-tournament team honors for her performance.
Meanwhile, Jones was just as dynamic in the Wave's sixth straight win of the season, earning her first career double-double with 10 points and a career best 15 rebounds. Jones' 15 rebounds marked the highest rebounding performance for a Tulane player this season.
Latham, Jones and the rest of the 9-3 Green Wave will look to remain undefeated at home (7-0) when they open American Athletic Conference play on Dec. 30 when they host Houston (4-7) at 7 p.m. CT, live on the American Digital Network.
