Kolby Morgan Earns LSWA POTW Honors

NEW ORLEANS - Helping the Tulane women's basketball team improve its record to 5-3 this past Sunday with a 74-55 victory over McNeese State, sophomore guard Kolby Morgan was rewarded by being named a co-winner along with UL-Lafayette's Jaylyn Gordon, in this week's Louisiana Sports Writers Association's (LSWA) Player of the Week award.
Morgan led with a game high 19 points on a 6-for-14 shooting day from the floor. It marked her third straight game with at least 19 points and at least six made field goals. Furthermore, Morgan shot 3-of-7 from beyond the arc and 4-of-5 from the free-throw line. The New Orleans native also collected three rebounds, three assists and two steals in 38 minutes of play.
Morgan continues her torrid pace to her sophomore campaign, whose 18.6 points per game ranks fifth in the American Athletic Conference and 50th in the nation. Morgan has been prolific from three-point range, averaging 2.88 made three-pointers per game which is first in the conference and 35th in the country.
The Green Wave currently have a week off of competition in order to take their final exams and then will resume action on the road in Oxford, when they travel to Ole Miss on Dec. 16. The contest marks a stretch in which the Wave will compete in four games in six days, including the Tulane Classic presented by Embassy Suites, Dec. 20-21.
