Men's Basketball Looks to Snap Streak at Cincinnati
Feb 13, 2015 | Men's Basketball
CINCINNATI - Looking to snap a season-long five game losing streak, the Tulane men's basketball team travels to Fifth Third Arena on Saturday to face Cincinnati at 1 p.m. CT in an American Athletic Conference game.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU (Ch. 321 on Cox in New Orleans/Ch. 141 on DISH/Ch. 208 on DIRECTV/Ch. 302 on Charter on the north shore), can be seen on WatchESPN (http://es.pn/1C5uUt3) and can also be heard live on the Tulane IMG Sports Network (106.1 FM locally in the New Orleans area).
The Green Wave (13-10, 4-7 American) have not won since the, 68-65, victory at Houston on Jan. 17, but three of the five losses have been by single digits. The Bearcats (17-7, 8-4 American) have won six of the last eight games, but fell at Temple on Tuesday night to slide back to fourth-place in the conference standing.
"Cincinnati is a great program and it will be a tremendous environment on Saturday," Tulane head coach Ed Conroy said. "We will have to solve that puzzle of trying to find a way to consistently score against the best defense in the league. Their style fits in with what we need to continue to get better at and that is our decision making and our ball handling. Hopefully we can show some progress in those areas on Saturday."
Cincinnati has allowed a league-low 55.5 points per game overall this season and 55.9 points per game in American games. Only three league opponents have scored more than 60 points against the Bearcats this season.
Tulane enters Saturday's game with a scoring average of 65.9 points per game and are posting 61.2 points per game in conference play.
Junior Louis Dabney leads the Green Wave with 13.6 points per game, while Cincinnati is led by Troy Caupain's 10.2 scoring average.
This is the 34th meeting between the two former Metro Conference and C-USA members. Cincinnati leads the series, 21-13, and has won 10 straight games. The Bearcats own a 12-5 series lead in games played in Cincinnati. UC won the last meeting, 77-56, on March 2, 2005 in Cincinnati.
Tulane hosts UCF at 6 p.m. CT at Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse on Thursday before heading to Storrs to face UConn at 3 p.m. CT on Sunday.
