Tulane Baseball Prepares for Alumni Day on Saturday
Feb 6, 2015 | Baseball
NEW ORLEANS - Tulane baseball players from years past will make a return trip to Greer Field at Turchin Stadium on Saturday, as the Green Wave baseball program will host their Alumni Day, including a pair of games that will feature players who once wore the Olive and Blue.
An Old Timers Game with rosters comprised of players from 2000 and before will kick the day off at 10:30am. Following that contest, the 2015 roster - under the guidance of first-year head coach David Pierce - will play a group of players who graduated between 2001 and 2014 in an Alumni Game that is slated to begin at 1pm CT.
The entire group of former players will be introduced by the Voice of the Green Wave, Todd Graffagnini, in between the two contests at approximately 12:30pm CT.
The gates open at 10am CT, as does the Rosen Lot behind right field. Admission to the contest is free of charge, and parking will also be free. Concessions will be available for purchase.
"Alumni Day is always a great day for the former players, and it's also a great day for us to allow the current team to associate with the guys who have been here to create a lot of history," stated Pierce. "It's great to bring the former players back so we can enjoy a weekend with them. We hope to have an opportunity to enhance our fan base. For us, it's a chance to get our season started, and it gives us an opportunity to play against a different opponent."
Nearly 70 former players have already RSVP'd for the event, and more are expected to attend.
On Friday, Feb. 13, Tulane will open up the 2015 season as they take on 2014 NCAA Super Regional participant Pepperdine in Malibu, California. Following that three-game series, as well as a contest in Hammond against Southeastern Louisiana on Feb. 18, Tulane will open the home portion of their schedule against San Francisco on Friday, Feb. 20.
Tickets for the 2015 Tulane baseball season are now on sale. Interested parties can call 504-861-WAVE (9283) for more information on tickets, or they may visit the James W. Wilson, Jr. Center's first floor ticket office.
