Statement from Associate Head Coach/Pitching Coach Anthony Izzio on his departure from Tulane:

After four years at Tulane University, this is a difficult decision for me and my family. This program has meant a great deal to us and I will always be grateful for the opportunity to be part of something so special.

During my time here, we competed in three championship games, won two titles, and earned two regional appearances. While those accomplishments are certainly memorable, what I will value most are the relationships built along the way and the people who made those moments possible. To our players and their families, thank you for your trust, commitment, and support throughout these years. The success of this program is a direct reflection of the dedication and character of the young men who wore this uniform and the families who stood behind them every step of the way. I have been incredibly fortunate to coach such outstanding individuals, and I will always be grateful for the experiences we shared together.

To Coach (Jay) Uhlman, thank you for allowing me to be part of something bigger than myself. Your leadership trust, and belief in me provided an opportunity that had had a lasting impact on both my career and my family.

To Josh (Fellows) and Frankie (Niemann), I want to express my sincere appreciation for the countless hours, effort and selflessness you both poured into this program every single day. Your commitment to the team and willingness to give more than what was ever asked of you did not go unnoticed. Working alongside you has been one of the greatest privileges of my time here, and the relationships we built will mean far more to me than baseball alone.

To the coaching staff, facilities staff, administration, and everyone behind the scenes, thank you for your support and professionalism throughout my time at Tulane. Successful programs are built by many people working together, and I am grateful to each of you for the role you played.

I would also like to specifically recognize Curtis Akey for everything he did for me personally and for this program, as a whole. His impact reached far beyond what many people saw on a daily basis, and he will truly be missed.

Finally, Erika, Ace, Knox and I want to thank everyone for the friendships, support, and memories we will carry with us forever. While this chapter, is coming to a close, we are looking forward to seeing what lies ahead will continue to support and cheer for this program from afar.

Thank you for giving every ounce of yourself to Tulane Baseball, our staff and our players. You helped created two championship-winning teams, two NCAA Regional appearances, 11 professional players and countless meaningful relationships that will last far beyond the game. On behalf of the entire program, we have nothing but gratitude for everything you poured into this place. We wish you and your family nothing but success and happiness in whatever comes next.
