NEW ORLEANS - For the fifth straight season, the Tulane golf team will open the spring campaign at the UCF Challenge this Sunday-Tuesday, Feb. 8-10, at the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.
Tulane will join golfers from Kentucky and Iowa State for Sunday's opening round and the groups will begin from the first tee box at 7:30 a.m. CST/8:30 a.m. EST.
The 18 teams will play the par-72, 6,349-yard course at the Eagle Creek Golf Club. The 2015 field includes host UCF, Campbell, East Carolina, Iowa State, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Minnesota, Rollins, SMU, Texas, Texas State, Tulane, USF, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Western Carolina and Wisconsin.
"As team, we came out of the fall with each one of our players having areas they need to work on and we addressed those during a great offseason," Tulane head coach Lorne Don said. "As we head into our first tournament, I am looking forward to all of our hard work during the offseason pay off. We played in this tournament last year and we did not achieve the result we wanted so we are excited to come back and prove ourselves again."
"This is a great field. There are six teams ranked ahead of us so we looking forward to teeing it up on Sunday and our goal is to come away with a win," Don added.
UCF is the defending team champions, while the Knights' own Fanny Cnops is the defending individual medalist.
The Green Wave line-up for the spring opener will consist of senior Gemma Dryburgh, juniors Silvia Garces, Madison Opfer, Emily Penttila and sophomore Belen Goicoechea.
