NEW ORLEANS – With just two weeks remaining in the 2016 season, the Tulane volleyball squad will hit the road for one final away weekend against two tough American Athletic Conference foes. The Green Wave take on Cincinnati on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 6:00 p.m. before traveling to East Carolina for a mid-day contest on Saturday, Nov. 19.
QUOTE
"For the last two weeks, we have finally had all our starters back from injury, and we put together a very solid 3-1 record in that time with two sweeps. Tomorrow we take on Cincinnati, who is second in the American Athletic Conference. It will be a great matchup with the two best right-side hitters in the league. ECU is a streaky team, so we will have to put them away quickly on Saturday. We have had one of the biggest turnarounds in the nation this year and we couldn't be more proud of how hard this team is working."
--Tulane head coach Jim Barnes
LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, Tulane completed back-to-back conference sweeps for the first time since 2013, defeating both Houston and Memphis in three straight sets. The Green Wave were led by senior outside hitter Tea Juric, who hit .429 on the weekend with 23 kills and 28 digs.
Cincinnati is also coming off of a 2-0 weekend, taking two straight road matches at Temple and UConn. The Bearcats battled Temple to a 3-2 decision on Friday night before recording their tenth match sweep of the year in a 3-0 final at UConn.
East Carolina, currently on a six game skid, dropped both of last weekend's road matches. The Pirates fell 1-3 at UConn on Friday before losing in three straight sets at Temple on Sunday.
SERIES HISTORY
The Green Wave are 2-24 in the all-time series with Cincinnati and 0-9 on the road with the Bearcats. Earlier this year, Tulane lost a tough five-set battle to the Bearcats, falling 14-16 in the fifth set.
Tulane leads the series with East Carolina 16-4, with a 7-3 record on the road in Greenville. Earlier this season, the Green Wave fell 1-3 to the Pirates despite notching twenty or more points in every set.
