CINCINNATI – Coming off of a 2-0 weekend that featured back-to-back conference sweeps for the first time since 2013, the Green Wave were unable to capitalize on previous successes on Thursday night at Cincinnati's Fifth Third Arena. Tulane fell in three straight sets to the Bearcats, dropping to 16-13 on the year and 8-9 in the American Athletic Conference.

HOW IT WAS WON
Tulane opened up the night on a 3-0 run, but the Green Wave couldn't put the rest of the pieces together in set one, falling to the Bearcats 25-17. Despite an impressive offensive performance from sophomore middle hitter Dayna Kern, who hit .857 in the first set with six kills in seven attempts, it was a string of hitting errors that did the Green Wave in.
The second set also started off in Tulane's favor, but the Bearcats would once again make an early run to regain the lead. The Green Wave would take a 0-2 deficit into the set break, needing a set-three win to stave off a Cincinnati victory. Set three would not prove more successful than the previous two, as the Bearcats would be the first to put up points on their way to a 25-17 match-clinching victory.
The night's match represented just the second in-conference sweep Tulane has faced this year, compared to seven in the 2015 campaign.
UP NEXT
The Green Wave play their last road match of the year at East Carolina on Saturday, Nov. 19. First serve goes out at 11:00 a.m. from Greenville.
