JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Tulane volleyball (4-1) cruised to victory with a 3-0 sweep over North Florida (3-3) on Saturday afternoon to wrap up the UNF Invitational. The Green Wave never trailed against the Ospreys on the way to its fourth-straight win and its third sweep of the season.

With the win, the Wave improved to 4-1 so far this season and finishe the UNF Invitational with a perfect 3-0 record. The win also marked Tulane's second win in program history of North Florida moving to 2-0 all-time in the series.

Four players for the Green Wave made their impact felt offensively as the team finished with a .442 hitting percentage in the match. The duo of Lauryn Mack and Avery Burks led the way with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Maddy McLin followed with career-high nine kills and a pair of blocks while Riley Tucker added eight kills.

Orchestrating the offensive attack for the Wave was Charlee Solomon who recorded 33 assists. Solomon also led the team with four service aces followed by Makena Lim and Kailey Leonard with one each.

Defensively, nine different players registered at least one dig led by nine apiece from Dayla Ortiz and Solomon. Mack tallied eight digs to go with two blocks while Burks and Lim each added seven digs.

Following a brief back-and-forth to begin the first set of the day Tulane claimed control with four consecutive points to take a 15-9 lead. The Wave quickly extended that lead with a 5-0 run to take a 10-point advantage (20-10) before closing out the set with a 25-17 victory.

Burks and Solomon kept the Wave on the attack starting the next set with a kill and an ace to put Tulane in front. The Green Wave continued to build on its lead eventually extending its advantage to as many as 11 points on its way to a 25-14 win in the second set.

The momentum continued to roll for Tulane in the third set as back-to-back kills from Burks got the set underway. Once again, the Wave never trailed in the set ultimately cruising to a 25-11 set win and a 3-0 sweep of the match.

UP NEXT
The Green Wave will travel to Mobile, Alabama, to compete in the South Alabama Invitational from Friday to Saturday, September 11-13. Tulane will play three matches in the tournament against Georgia, Kennesaw State, and tournament host South Alabama.
