QUOTE
"We are in the best shape we have ever been this season, and the team is ready to dominate November. This week we take on UConn, who we are tied with in-conference, and no. 3 seeded Temple, who we beat on their home court. Our focus is to play consistently and aggressively on both sides of the ball and out-play teams with our balance."
--Tulane head coach Jim Barnes
LAST TIME OUT
Tulane spent last weekend on the road, opening up with a Friday night contest at Tulsa. After taking the first set from the Golden Hurricane, the Green Wave dropped the next three to fall 1-3. On Sunday afternoon, Tulane went to five sets with SMU for the second time this year, falling 2-3 in a 16-14 fifth-set decision.
UConn split last week's matches, falling in three straight sets to Temple on Wednesday night in Philadelphia. The Huskies then traveled to Memphis for a Sunday afternoon match-up with the Tigers, which UConn won 3-0.
Temple extended its winning streak to four last weekend, sweeping UConn on Wednesday night in Philadelphia. The Owls then took a 3-2 contest on Friday night in Memphis. ย
SERIES HISTORY
Tulane trails UConn 5-1 in the all-time series after dropping a harrowing 3-1 contest in Storrs earlier this year. The Green Wave are 1-1 at home and dropped last year's match-up 3-2 in New Orleans.
The Green Wave defeated Temple in a nail-biting 3-2 match-up earlier this season, which saw the longest set five in Tulane volleyball history. The Owls currently hold a 3-2 series lead over the Green Wave, while the teams are tied 1-1 in New Orleans. Last year, Tulane pulled off a 3-2 win on their home court. ย
