QUOTE
"Tonight was a great win at home. Our seniors played like seniors, and we had some close sets but we pulled through. It was a great performance by both of our middles and Justine Bowers, our setter, who really kept us balanced. It was a great team effort against a tough UConn team and a good way to start November off."
--Tulane head coach Jim Barnes
HOW IT WAS WON
UConn started the night off hot, notching the first points of the match and leading Tulane for the entirety of set one before coming away with a 25-21 victory, their only win of the night. Tulane evened things up in set two, battling close with UConn at the start before pulling ahead to an 18-13 lead that would end in the Green Wave's favor, 25-23.
Evened at one set apiece, the Huskies came out strong following the set break, taking a 7-2 lead in the third set before Tulane called time. Back on the court, Tulane would play a game of catch-up with UConn and stave off set point for five straight points before notching a come-from-behind 26-24 victory.
Up two sets to one, Tulane was looking to clinch a home victory over the Huskies, opening set four with a convincing 8-3 lead. This time, it was UConn's turn to battle from behind, as the Huskies tied the score up at 17-all before Tulane coupled a pair of kills from Justine Bowers with a pair of UConn errors to put the match away on a 25-20 set-five victory.
On the night, junior right-side hitter Sarah Ray led Tulane's offense with 14 kills and her 14th double-double of the year, while senior middle hitter Sarah Strasner recorded a .476 hitting percentage on 10 kills.
