NEW ORLEANS – Tulane will play its final non-conference road game of the season when it makes the short trip to Hattiesburg, Miss., on Saturday, Dec. 10 to take on Southern Miss. Opening tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. inside Reed Green Coliseum.
Â
Tulane Quick Notes:
• Saturday will be the Green Wave's only road game during the month of December this season.
• Tulane (2-7) has shot 50 percent or better from the field in the second half in three-straight games and four times overall this season. The Green Wave went 18-for-36 (.500) at New Orleans on Nov. 29, 15-for-30 (.500) at home against St. John's on Dec. 2 and 19-for-33 (.576) versus Southern on Dec. 7. Tulane first accomplished the feat in its second game of the season by going 15-for-30 (.500) against Southeastern Louisiana on Nov. 14.
Â
Last Time Out:
• Three Green Wave players achieved career-high scoring performances, as Tulane shot 50 percent from the floor while making 33 shots and snapped a six-game skid with an 84-75 home win over Southern. Four players scored in double-figures, led by Cameron Reynolds' personal-best 24 points on 10-for-18 shooting to go with seven rebounds. Melvin Frazier added 15 points, Ray Ona Embo scored a career-high 13 points to go with a game-high six assists and Blake Paul scored 12 points on 5-for-6 shooting, setting an individual standard in both categories. Malik Morgan chipped in nine points and led all players with a career-high 11 rebounds. The Green Wave outscored the Jaguars, 46-26, in the paint.
Â
The Opponent:
• Southern Miss (3-4) enters Saturday's contest on a three-game losing streak after its most recent setback on Tuesday night at Florida State, 98-49. Tim Rowe leads the Eagles with 12.2 points to go with 7.4 rebounds and two blocks per game, but has not played in two-straight contests. Quinton Campbell is also averaging double-digits with 11.4 points and four rebounds per contest. The Golden Eagles' last win came on Nov. 21 at home against Alabama A&M, 63-55.
Â
The Series:
• Saturday's matchup marks the 79th meeting between the two programs as Tulane leads the all-time series, 41-37. The Green Wave had lost nine-straight against the Eagles, but a 59-40 home win on Dec. 22, 2015 ended that streak behind a game-high 15 points by Malik Morgan and 10 more off the bench by Cameron Reynolds. Tulane's last victory in Hattiesburg came on Feb., 24, 2009 in a 73-59 result when both schools were members of Conference USA.
