NEW ORLEANS -- Tulane volleyball welcomes USF and UCF to Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse this weekend as it pines to halt its six-match losing streak. First serve against USF is set for 7 p.m., Friday, before the Green Wave play UCF on Sunday at noon in a match broadcast on the American Digital Network and televised on Cox Sports TV.
"We've been in every match, and we've had leads in every match, but we just haven't finished them," head coach Jim Barnes said. "We've shown our youth at the end of sets and have not put teams away. It's happening over and over when we have our chances to win, so that's what we're focusing on: executing at the end of sets to put teams away. Doing the little things that will help us put the match away."
The Green Wave return to action on the heels of a tightly-contested five-set loss against Memphis, Tuesday afternoon at home. Playing a midweek contest as a result of a match postponement due to Tropical Storm Nate, Tulane lost 3-2 (19-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-14, 12-15). Junior middle hitter Dayna Kern finished with a team-high 12 kills (.429 attack percentage), while sophomore libero Kaylie McHugh tallied a team-high 19 digs.
Last season, Tulane defeated UCF in both matchups, winning 3-0 in Orlando, Fla. and 3-1 at home. The Green Wave split its series against USF, taking the first matchup, 3-1, before dropping the second, 3-2.Â
A live stream including play-by-play and analysis of Tulane's Friday match is available at TulaneGreenWave.com, while The American Digital Network will air Sunday's match on YouTube. Sunday's match will also televised live on Cox Sports TV.
