Oct 5, 2017 | Women's Swimming and Diving
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane swimming & diving fans have a terrific opportunity to watch the Green Wave compete on Friday as the team takes on American Athletic Conference rival SMU at the Reily Center Natatorium at 3 p.m. Admission is free for all fans.
Â
The Green Wave are coming off a strong season-opening meet in Baton Rouge last Friday. Tulane defeated Loyola-New Orleans and stayed closed with LSU, losing by just 50 points to the Tigers in their home pool.
Â
Tulane had six event wins at the LSU Tri-Meet, claiming the 50 free, 500 free, 1000 free, 100 back, 200 breast and 200 IM. Sophomore Olivia Johnson had two of those victories: the 1000 free and the 200 IM.
Â
SMU has had two meets already this year. The Mustangs lost in a dual meet at Arkansas by a 149-83 score in mid-September and competed at the UNT Relays hosted by North Texas last weekend. At the UNT Relays – officially an exhibition – SMU placed third behind AAC rival Houston and behind the host Mean Green.
Â
Tulane last faced SMU in a dual meet in 2016, falling to the Mustangs 173-114.
Â
Following Friday's home meet against SMU, Tulane will have two weeks off to prepare for its next meet. The Green Wave will travel to West Florida to take on the Argonauts on October 21.
