Green Wave to host Penn on Friday and Middle Tennessee on Sunday

NEW ORLEANS – After a week off from competition, the No. 25 Tulane men's tennis team (8-2) looks to get the ball rolling again when they host a pair of foes this weekend at the City Park Pepsi Tennis Center. Up first, the Green Wave battle Penn on Friday, March 10, at 10 a.m. CT, followed by a showdown with Middle Tennessee on Sunday, March 12, at 1 p.m.
WAVE IN THE RANKINGS
After checking in with their highest ranking in the post-Katrina era at No. 20, the Wave slid five spots to No. 25 this week. In singles, freshman Ewan Moore earned his first career ranking, just cracking the list at No. 125. Moore is joined by No. 118 Sebastian Rey and No. 38 Constantin Schmitz.
In doubles, the pairing of Rey and Chi-Shan Jao remain ranked, checking in at No. 73.
WAVE WEEKLY
The hot hand on the team currently belongs to sophomore Tyler Schick, who has won a team best five straight. Schick is 7-1 this spring, all on court four. Meanwhile, Moore has won three straight, which included wins over then No. 62 Jefta Kecic of UNF and No. 58 Nick Horton of North Carolina State.
DOUBLE-TAKE
The Olive and Blue are 5-4 in doubles this season. When Tulane has claimed the early 1-0 advantage, they are 5-2.
A LOOK AT PENN
Penn enters the weekend with an 8-5 record, coming off of sweep of Denver last Sunday. Penn has faced five opponents who are currently ranked in the Oracle/ITA top-50. The Quakers are led by its top-two singles competitors in Kyle Mautner and Josh Pompan, who have combined for a 19-4 record.
A LOOK AT MIDDLE TENNESSEE
Middle Tennessee sits at 5-8 this spring and just 1-5 on the road. The Blue Raiders square off with Cal Poly before making the trek to New Orleans. Middle Tennessee had lost six straight before earning a 4-0 sweep over Pacific on March 6.
