Green Wave host Tulsa on Friday and No. 37 Rice on Sunday

NEW ORLEANS – The No. 28 Tulane men's tennis team (14-4) returns to the friendly confines of the City Park Pepsi Tennis Center this weekend to wrap up regular season play with a three-match homestand, starting with conference foe Tulsa (10-14) on Friday at 4 p.m. CT. The Wave will then host No. 37 Rice (19-5) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
WATCHING THE WAVE
Last weekend, the Green Wave split its pair of matches, losing 5-2 at No. 26 South Florida, before bouncing back with a 4-3 come from behind win at No. 33 Memphis. Tulsa will mark just the third American Athletic Conference team Tulane has faced this spring.
Senior Chi-Shan Jao continues to make his last season count, the winner of a team best nine straight, now 10-1 this season. Tyler Schick (11-3) and No. 22 Constantin Schmitz (12-3) also boast double-digit dual victories.
IN THE RANKINGS
In this week's updated Oracle/ITA team rankings, Tulane moved up one spot yet again to No. 28. Schmitz's third loss this spring resulted in the junior falling four spots in singles to No. 22. In doubles, Sebastian Rey and Chi-Shan Jao checked in at No. 78.
DOUBLE-TAKE
The Olive and Blue are 9-8 in doubles this season. When Tulane has claimed the early 1-0 advantage, they are 9-0.
SWEET 16
Last year, the Wave made its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2005 and tied its highest win total (16) in the post-Katrina era. The 2017 squad, now sitting at 14-4, could eclipse that mark by regular season's end.
A LOOK AT TULSA
Tulsa enters the weekend with a 10-14 record and 2-1 mark in conference matches. Back in March, Tulsa defeated UCF 4-3 on the road before dropping a 5-0 decision to USF. In fact, the South Florida loss started what is now a seven-match losing streak for the Golden Hurricane, most recently suffering a 4-0 loss to No. 42 Texas Tech and a 4-2 loss to No. 3 Baylor.
Or Ram-Harel is back, completing his senior season, boasting an 8-8 record at the top singles position. Ram-Harel is ranked No. 26 in the country in singles and No. 40 in doubles alongside partner Majed Kilani.
A LOOK AT RICE
Rice enters the contest in search of win No. 20, possessing a 19-5 record. The Owls have won eight straight, with their last loss occurring on March 5 at No. 6 Texas via a 6-1 final. The Wave will be looking to enact some revenge against Rice after losing 4-3 a year ago in Houston.
Tommy Bennett and David Warren lead the doubles effort, ranked No. 43 in the country.
