LEXINGTON, Ky. – Tulane's track & field squad capped a historic weekend at the 2017 NCAA East Regional qualifying five student-athletes to the national meet in six events, as Saturday evening featured Emmanuel Rotich running another qualifying time in the men's 5,000m. Rotich will now represent the Green Wave in both the 3,000m steeplechase and 5,000m run at the national meet, becoming the first male in school history to compete in more than one event on the national level.
QUOTE
"Emmanuel has run really well in both the 5,000m and steeplechase all year long, and for him to qualify in both is a huge accomplishment. More importantly than that is the way he executed tonight, putting himself in a competitive position at the right time as he was able to sprint in at the end and automatically qualify for nationals. I'm very proud of the way the team has competed and the accomplishments that we've been able to achieve here. We may not have a deep team, but where we're good, we're good, and I think we proved that this weekend."

HIGHLIGHTS FROM DAY THREE OF THE NCAA EAST REGIONAL
With one nationals qualification already under his belt, sophomore Emmanuel Rotich capped his stay at the NCAA East Regional also earning himself a spot in the men's 5,000m run on Saturday evening at the University of Kentucky Track & Field Facility. Rotich raced to a fourth-place finish on the night to claim one of the ten automatic bids to nationals, sprinting to the finish line of his second race of the weekend.
