Volleyball Set to Open Regular Season at UL Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, LA. -- Numerous schedule rearrangements as a result of Hurricane Harvey and flash flood warnings in San Antonio, Texas will not stop the season from getting underway. Tulane volleyball will now open the 2017 regular season with a doubleheader against UL Lafayette on Friday at Earl K. Long Gym in Lafayette, La. First serve for the matches is set for 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
"It's a great opportunity for us," head coach Jim Barnes said. "The staff came together for us and operations came together for us to schedule these two matches. It's a great opportunity for our young team to play. We've made the most of the situation."
Tulane's scheduled trip to the I-10 Cardinals Classic in San Antionio was canceled by the impending inclement weather. The Green Wave was originally scheduled to begin its season with three matches at the tournament on the campus of Incarnate Word in San Antonio. The first match of the season was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Aug. 25 against UTEP. The Green Wave then was to play a 5 p.m. match on Friday against Incarnate Word, before playing UL-Lafayette at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Season ticket packages for the 2017 season are on sale now. Tickets may be purchased by logging onto TulaneGreenWave.com or by calling the Tulane Athletics Ticket Office at (504) 861-WAVE (9283). Fans can also visit the ticket office on the bottom level of the James W. Wilson Jr. Center, Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
