
Tulane Falls to FIU and Denver in the Final Day of Dual-A-Pool-Ooza

DENVER – The Tulane University women's swimming and diving team dropped a pair of head-to-head matchups to FIU (112.5-92.50) and Denver (118-87) during the final day of competition of Dual-A-Pool-Ooza on Saturday.

The two-day event was being held at the University of Denver's El Pomar Natatorium.
"Today was much better today and I thought we competed really well, especially in Session III," head coach Leah Stancil said. "This was a really good learning experience for our girls and I think we have a lot of ability to get better."

The Green Wave opened the final day of competition against FIU in Session II.

Sophomore Kate McDonald and junior Olivia Johnson both posted winning performances in the first sessions, as they won the 400-yard IM (4:30.41) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:08.01), respectively.
Â
McDonald also posted a runner-up finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.27).
Â
McDonald and Johnson continued their strong performances into Session III against Denver.
Â
McDonald won the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:19.68 and finished runner up in the 50-yard breaststroke (29.83).
Â
Johnson won the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.23) and took second in the 100-yard IM.
Â
"I was very proud of the way both Olivia and Kate competed," Stancil said. "Their performances have really set a great tone for our team."

Tulane also received a strong performance from freshman Noa Heron in Session III, as she won the 1,000-yard freestyle.

The Green Wave return to action next week at home against LSU and Loyola.
