
Tulane Swimming and Diving Defeats Georgia Southern 210-90

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Tulane women's swimming and diving team defeated Georgia Southern on Saturday afternoon to pick up its second win of the year.

Tulane had nine different individuals earn victories, as it won 14 of the 16 events to win by a 210-90 count.

Senior Paris Zhang highlighted competition for the Green Wave as she claimed the 100- and 200-yard backstroke races and swam on both the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay. Zhang won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 56.21 and the 200-yard backstroke in a performance of 2:04.91.

On the diving board, freshman Sierra Shurts claimed the 1-meter title with a score of 249.45. Shurts' win was Tulane's first individual win in a diving event of the season. On the 3-meter board, the Green Wave saw Anne Marie Kenny, Shurts and Anise Muir earn the 2-3-4 spots.
Kate McDonald continued her strong sophomore campaign, as she won a pair of races by claiming the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events. McDonald posted a winning time of 1:05.82 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Her first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke of 2:18.45 was nearly five seconds faster than the runner up.

Senior Shelly Zelnick chipped in with a strong performance as she won the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.07) and the 200-yard IM (2:04.88).

The Green Wave also claimed both relay events as they won the 200 yard medley relay (1:46.07) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:35.69).

Tulane returns to action on Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Phill Hansel Invitational in Houston, Texas.
