Nov 4, 2018 | Women's Tennis
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Tulane women's tennis team won four of six singles matches against Virginia Tech, highlighting the final day of the Kentucky Invitational's hidden dual on Sunday.
The Green Wave got the day started with singles matches against the Hokies, as they got a pair of straight-set victories and two more three-set wins. Adelaide Lavery cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Dori Mesmer, while Daniela La Fuente earned a convincing 7-6(4), 6-0 decision over Annie Clark. Laura Fabrizi won her first set, 6-4, over Nina Sorkin, but dropped the second by the same count. She prevailed in the third-set tiebreaker however, 11-9, to close it out.Â
Alex Alegre completed the weekend with a 2-0 mark in singles against Virginia Tech, as she earned a comeback win over Emily Pence, 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-6) just two days after topping Mesmer in straight sets.
The Wave ended the day with six singles matchups against Kentucky, and despite forcing three sets on three of the contests, the Wildcats came away with wins on all six courts.
Tulane returns to action with its final tournament of the fall season next Friday through Sunday, Nov. 9-11, in Tallahassee, Fla., at the Florida State Invitational.
