Women's Tennis Rebounds Against South Dakota State, 5-1

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Tulane women's tennis team earned a weekend split and its fourth win of the spring with a 5-1 victory over South Dakota State on Sunday afternoon.
The Green Wave proved dominant with the start of doubles play, as Laura Fabrizi and Ivone Alvaro shut out their opponents at the No. 2 spot in the lineup, 6-0. Sade Atkinson and Elena Muller were not far behind, winning No. 1 doubles, 6-1, to clinch the first team point of the match. Christina Sisti and Alex Alegre made it a perfect 3-for-3 with 6-4 win from the No. 3 position in the lineup.
Tulane (4-3) kept the pressure on the Jackrabbits at the start of singles play by winning the first set on all courts, as Muller was first to finish with a 6-0, 6-0 win on court three. La Fuente followed up with a straight-set shutout of her own on court five, before Alegre clinched the match from court six with her first singles win of the spring, 6-0, 6-2.
Tulane returns to action Friday, February 16 at home against UTSA, before welcoming South Alabama the following day. Both matches are slated for 1 p.m. (CT) starts and will be played at the City Park Pepsi Tennis Center.
