Ewan Moore Garners American Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week Honor
Feb 27, 2018 | Men's Tennis
NEW ORLEANS - Tulane sophomore men's tennis player Ewan Moore has been named American Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the first time in his career, according to an announcement by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
Moore becomes the second player to receive the league's top, weekly individual honor, as senior Constantin Schmitz garnered the same recognition on Jan. 23 for the sixth time in his career.
Moore recorded a 2-0 mark at No. 2 singles and went 1-0 at No.1 doubles for the Green Wave last week, including a straight set victory over the nation's No. 20 player, Giovanni Oradini of 39th-ranked Mississippi State, 6-4, 6-4, on Friday evening. He followed up that performance by outlasting Connor Curry, 7-6(4), 6-4, as part of a 7-0 Tulane rout of 21st-ranked Texas Tech on Sunday afternoon.
The 2017 American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year is now 6-2 this spring and owns four wins over ranked opponents dating back to the fall season.
Ranked 22nd in the latest ITA poll released Tuesday morning, Tulane will head back on the road to play at Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro on Friday, March 2 at 2 p.m., before continuing on to Nashville to face Vanderbilt on Sunday at 9 a.m.
