Goicoechea's Nine-Over 225 Leads Women's Golf at UCF Challenge

ORLANDO, Fla. – Tulane women's golf opened its 2018 spring schedule with a 16th-place finish at the UCF Challenge at Eagle Creek Golf Club.
The Green Wave posted a 916 (+52), firing their best round of the tournament Sunday with a nine-over 297. Tulane was tied for fourth after the first day of competition, but dropped back over the final two rounds Monday and Tuesday.
Junior Sofia Goicoechea, competing as an individual, led the way for Tulane, finishing tied for 44th among the 90-player field with a 225 (+9). The Necochea, Argentina native strung together an impressive run in round two, recording two birdies and an eagle on the back nine to finish the day with an even-par 72.
Freshman Jennifer Rosenberg provided Tulane's best individual round of the tournament, shooting a one-under 71 on the opening day to help the Green Wave get out to their strong start. Rosenberg finished tied for 61st with a 228 (+12), highlighted by three birdies on the back nine in day two.
Junior Laura Munoz finished tied for 57th at 227 (+11) while sophomore Haydyn Gibson tied for 70th at 230 (+14), recording an eagle on the fourth hole in round two. Sophomore Gabrielle Correia and junior Abbie Cantwell finished tied for 74th (+17) and tied for 80th (+19), respectively.
