
Women's Tennis Clashes With East Carolina, Memphis on Final Road Trip

NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane women's tennis team will close out a string of seven consecutive matches away from home over a span of four weeks with a trip to Memphis, Tenn., to take on a pair of American Athletic Conference foes.
The Green Wave meets East Carolina on Saturday, March 17 at 10 a.m., before taking on Memphis the following day at the same time. Both matches will be played at the Racquet Club of Memphis.
LAST TIME OUT
Tulane (7-7) suffered a pair of setbacks last weekend in Norfolk, Va., including a 6-1 defeat against No. 45 Virginia Tech on Saturday, before a 5-2 loss to No. 39 Old Dominion. Freshman Daniela La Fuente notched a 2-0 singles record from the No. 5 spot to lead the Green Wave.
SCOUTING EAST CAROLINA
The Pirates (10-5, 1-2 AAC) held an early 2-1 advantage, but suffered a 4-2 road loss at Memphis on Friday afternoon to snap a four-match winning streak. ECU possesses one ranked singles player with junior and No. 53 Celia Ruiz, who had a six-match winning streak come to an end in a straight-set loss against the Tigers.Â
SCOUTING MEMPHIS
The Tigers (9-7, 1-3 AAC) own a 4-0 home record this season and defeated ECU on Friday to break a streak of two straight losses. Senior Anki Wind owns a team-leading 13-2 singles mark while sophomore Katherine Cao has won seven straight dual matches.
THE LONG ROAD HOME
Tulane is in the midst of seven straight matches on the road, which began on Feb. 20 at LSU and ends with a March 24 home tilt against Tulsa. The Green Wave will play four matches on two separate trips to Tennessee (Feb. 24-25 and March 17-18) and a pair in Norfolk, Va. (March 10-11), despite two matches in Storrs, Conn., (March 3-4) being cancelled.
