Rotich Sets Track & Field's 10,000m School Record at UCLA

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Friday night was a good night to set new lifetime bests.
Emmanuel Rotich crushed the school record in the 10,000m race, finishing second with a time of 29:09.24 to highlight the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival at UCLA on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Rotich's second-place in the 10,000m was a personal best and also topped the school record, as he broke Moses Aloiloi's record of 30:02.99.
Senior Jacqueline Esmay earned a second-place finish in the women's hammer throw, recording a distance of 56.07m. She beat the third-place finisher by nearly five meters, but fell short of her personal record of 57.48, which she set in April 2017.
Freshman Patrick Dougherty finished 17th in the 1500m race, setting a new personal record with a time of 4:18.35. Junior Pierce Hill also set a new lifetime best with his time of 4:28.22.
On the women's side in track events, junior Mckenzie Melius finished fifth in the women's 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:43.90.
UP NEXT
Today was good, but it only gets better tomorrow. Field events commence at 10:30 a.m. PT and running events kick off at 2:05 p.m. PT tomorrow - the final day at UCLA.
