HOW IT HAPPENED
Duckett stole the show in the women's 100m hurdles, claiming first place with her time of 13.54 (+2.0 m/s). Her time, while not a personal best, is a new Southeastern Strawberry Relays meet record, as it outperformed the previous top time of 15.55, set by Alexia Fortenberry of UNO in 2016.
Sophomore Brandi Hughes and freshman Kyah Loyd took second and third, respectively, in the same event, finishing right behind Duckett. Hughes' time of 13.66 (+2.0 m/s) is a new personal record.
Sophomore Maya Harewood also delivered a new personal best on Friday. She earned a second-place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 24.30 (+1.3 m/s), topping her old previous best of 24.70 (5/12/17).
The Green Wave's dominance did not stop there. Tulane also recorded top-three finishes in the women's 800m run, men's and women's 1500m run, women's 5000m run, women's high jump, women's pole vault, women's long jump, women's triple jump, women's hammer throw, men's discus throw and men's javelin throw.
Sophomore Paige Fatland won the 800m run with a time of 2:18.67, redshirt junior Emma Newton and junior Mckenzie Melius finished first and second, respectively, in the 1500m and freshman Bridgid Selfors won the 5000m run by 20 seconds, finishing in 8:23.59. Newton finished in a time of 4:49.02 in the 1500m while Melius came in right behind her at 4:49.95.
Freshmen Emma King and Pauline Helm both notched marks of 1.55m in the high jump, taking third place, while freshman Kristina Leggas finished second in the pole vault with a mark of 3.77m. Junior Rose Brutkiewicz grabbed third in the pole vault with a mark of 3.52m.
Elsewhere on the track, freshman Danielle Wember picked up a third-place finish in the long jump. Wember jumped 5.73m, just .01m short of tying her personal best.
