NEW ORLEANS - Juniors Mckenzie Melius and Emmanuel Rotich will head to Torrance, California, to compete in the women's and men's 3000m steeplechase race, respectively, on Thursday and Friday, splitting up from the team to represent Tulane track and field at the Mt. SAC Relays.

SAC is because the quality of the distance race will be the highest level of competition in the country this weekend. Mckenzie got off to a good start at UCLA, and I think she's right on the cusp of breaking through. For Emmanuel, it's his opener, his first steeplechase race of the season. ABOUT THE MEET
Melius will run at 8:15 p.m. Thursday night while Rotich competes at 8:55 p.m. Friday.
Earlier this season at the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival, Melius ran in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing with a time of 10:43.90. Her personal best - and school record - in the event is 10:41.08, which she set at the Penn Relays in 2017.
Rotich will make his season debut in the event on Friday night. His top time in the event came at last year's NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round, when he finished with a time of 8:36.40 - just shy of the school record of 8:35.30.
