
Volleyball Looks to Extend Win Streak, Prepares for UNO at Home

NEW ORLEANS – After a great start to the season with a three-match sweep to win the I-10 Tournament, Tulane volleyball looks to continue its winning streak when it faces in-city rival University of New Orleans on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.
Junior libero Kaylie McHugh leads the team in digs with 33 heading into the fourth home match of 2018, receiving the I-10 Tournament Defensive Most Valuable Player award after her performance in week one. Freshman outside hitter Makala Heidelberg received the I-10 Tournament honor for Most Valuable Player, finishing with a total of 15 kills and 22 digs in her first weekend on the Green Wave court.
Sophomore outside hitter Lexie Douglas and freshman setter Taylor Henigsman also received spots on the All-Tournament team, recording a team-leading 23 kills from Douglas and 76 assists from Henigsman.
UNO volleyball comes to Tulane with a 1-2 record, defeating Nebraska-Omaha 3-1 in the season opener and losing to Houston and Murray State, 2-3 and 0-3 respectively, in the UNO Invitational.
Senior outside hitter Blessing Dunn leads the Privateers in digs with 37, junior outside hitter Brianna Vega recorded a team-high 38 kills and senior middle blocker Kaitlyn Grice ends the team's opening weekend with 19 blocks.
2015 marks the last time Tulane faced its cross-city opponent, a match in which the Green Wave came out victorious by a 3-1 score. Tulane's career record against UNO is 62-23.
