
KU Invitational Up Next For Bowling

NEW ORLEANS – The sixth-ranked Tulane bowling team returns to action this weekend, traveling to Limerick, Pennsylvania, to take part in the 2018 KU Invitational hosted by Kutztown University.

The three-day event gets underway on Friday morning at Limerick Bowl with five, five-game Baker matches, moving to Saturday's five traditional team matches and Sunday's bracket finals.

The Green Wave have strung together four top 10 finishes this season, most recently finishing in 10th place at the 20-team Mid-Winter Invitational hosted by Arkansas State last weekend. Tulane knocked down 12,410 pins during the tournament for a pin average of 188.0. The squad had three matches knocking down over 1,000 pins in the competition.

On the year Tulane is 31-20 in matches, looking to improve this week after going 6-7 last weekend in Jonesboro. In all the group has knocked down 19,026 pins for a team average of 190.26.

Freshman Veronica Petrinec leads Tulane with a pin average of 196.06, bowling a season-high 246 against Texas Southern last weekend. Fellow freshman Crystal Singh leads the team in total pins knocked down with 3,423.

In the biggest field for the squad this season, the Green Wave will be one of 32 participating teams in the tournament this weekend. In arguably the strongest field to date, all but three of the NTCA's Top 25 teams will be in Pennsylvania this weekend including No. 1 McKendree, No. 3 Vanderbilt, No. 4 Arkansas State, No. 5 Sam Houston State, No. 7 Farleigh Dickinson, No. 8 Maryland Eastern Shore, No. 9 Saint Francis (Pa.), No. 10 Stephen F. Austin, No. 11 North Carolina A&T, No. 12 Wisconsin-Whitewater, No. 13 Delaware State, No. 15 Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.), No. 16 Sacred Heart, No. 17 Monmouth, No. 18 LIU Brooklyn, No. 19 Mount St. Mary's, No. 20 UAB, No. 21 Adelphi, No. 22 Maryville, No. 23 Duquesne and No. 25 Kutztown.

The rest of the field includes Morgan State, Norfolk State, Saint Francis (NY), Youngstown State, Bethune-Cookman, Howard, Medaille, Felician, Chestnut Hill and Caldwell.
