NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University women's swimming and diving team returns to the water on Saturday as it welcomes the University of West Florida for its final home meet of the season. The meet is set to begin at 3 p.m., inside the Reily Student Recreation Center Natatorium. Â
Â
Tulane's matchup with West Florida marks its first competitive action since its Nov. 18 meet at the Phill Hansel Invitational in Houston, Texas.
Â
"We have not competed in a while, so this competition will really help myself and Kosuke (Kojima) really figure out where we are at as we prepare for the American Athletic Championships," head coach Leah Stancil said. "I know our team has been training really hard, so it will be exciting to see them compete again."
Â
During the three-day Phil Hansel Invitational, the Green Wave finished in fifth place ahead of Colorado State, Washington State, Vanderbilt, Air Force, Northern Colorado, Incarnate Word and North Texas.Â
Â
Junior Olivia Johnson highlighted competition for the Green Wave on the individual side, as she won the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:12.76. She also notched a pair of top five performances in the 500-yard freestyle and the 1,650-yard freestyle.
Â
Her time of 4:48.92 in the 500-yard freestyle established a new school record.
Â
West Florida enters the meet having lost their last six head to head meets, with the last one being to Incarnate Word University 190-67.Â
Â
Saturday afternoon's meet also will serve as the final home meet for seniors Lena Hayakawa, Lilly Morgan, Anise Muir, Emily Ramier, Shelly Zelnick and Paris Zhang.
Â
"These seniors have been extremely helpful in terms of my adjustment to the team and I will certainly miss them next year," Stancil said.
