LUBBOCK, Texas â The Tulane track and field team concluded its time at the Texas Tech Classic with a second-place finish in the pole vault and three new top-10 marks in program history.
Â
Rebekah Markel began the day well for Tulane, coming in second in the 'A' Section of the pole vault. The senior cleared 3.92 meters and 4.07 meters on her first attempt each, but the bar was raised all the way to 4.22 for the next attempt. Markel could not get over 4.22, and her morning came to an end.
Â
Tulane had six competitors in the 200, with Maya Harewood placing the highest of any Green Wave runner. She ran a time of 24.58 seconds for a third-place showing in her heat and 23rd overall. With an altitude conversion, that time equates to 24.65 seconds and the new fifth-fastest 200 indoors in program history. That comes one day after Harewood set a new top-10 time in program history in the 400.
Â
Also running in the 200 were Hunter Robinson (26th, 24.79 seconds), Tahja Mitchell (29th, 24.92), Kyah Loyd (37th, 25.35), Brandi Hughes (41st, 25.63) and Aldrianna Dupree (44th, 25.82).

The team of Mitchell, Harewood, Loyd and Robinson combined for a time of 3:42.54, a mark that was one of 10 that eclipsed the previous meet record. Converted to sea level altitude, that time becomes 3:42.98 and is now the eighth-best time ever at Tulane.
Â
Olivia Hicks placed 10th in the high jump with a clearance of 1.67 meters. That is two centimeters higher than she reached during her first meet of the indoor season, bettering her sixth-best mark all-time at Tulane.
Â
In the long jump, Pauline Helm set a new personal best by reaching 5.53 meters on her first jump of the afternoon. The mark eclipsed her previous career best by two centimeters
Â
Emma Newton and Mckenzie Melius ran in the mile, with Newton taking eighth place in 5:11.05. Melius was close behind with a time of 5:15.39 for 10th place.
Â
