MIAMI – The Tulane University swimming and diving team opened competition Friday afternoon at the fifth annual Dual-A-Pool-Ooza event on the campus of Florida International University at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center.Â
Â
Friday afternoon's race against FIU was highlighted by four individual winning performances by the Green Wave.Â
Â
"I think the team did really well today and we had a lot of individuals win those close races, which is something we talk a lot about doing during the year," head coach Leah Stancil said. "I'm excited to see how tomorrow goes."
Â
Junior Kate McDonald led the way with a pair of winning performances, as she won the 200-yard IM (2:04.76) and the 200-yard breast (2:16.14). McDonald has now seven races on the year.Â
Â
Tulane also received victories from senior Jordan Morling (2:02.32) and freshman Lilly Byrne (10:08.24), as they won the 200-yard backstroke and the 1,000-yard freestyle, respectively.Â
Â
Green Wave divers Anne Marie Kenny and Gabby Hebert posted a pair of strong performances in 3-meter, as they finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Hebert's point total of 229.00 served as a season best.Â
Â
"As far as where we are right now in the season, I'm very excited," Tulane diving coach John Sirmon said. "We are on track right now and everyone has been very consistent, as we finish this phase of our season. We are learning harder dives and we really need this time to master the dives that we are currently working on."
