
Cross Country Gears Up for South Central Regional

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane cross country team is back in action and headed to Fayetteville, Arkansas this weekend to compete in the NCAA South Central Regional Championship.
The women's 6K is set to start at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Agri Cross Country Course, followed by the men's 10K which will begin at 12 p.m.
The Green Wave women will race against 25 teams in the meet, while the men will race against 27. The top two teams from the region, and the top four individual finishers in each race, will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships, held on Saturday, Nov. 23 in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Host Arkansas leads the way on the women's side, having maintained its first-place regional ranking for the entire season and currently standing at No. 1 in the National Coaches' Poll. Texas is next up for the women, followed by Texas A&M, Rice and Arkansas State.
Texas and Arkansas have been battling for the number one men's ranking in the region this season, but the Longhorns are currently at the top of the charts with the Razorbacks in second. Texas A&M checks in at third and is followed by Lamar and Rice.

The Green Wave men will be represented by Evans Kipchumba, Tom Coe, Carlos Zervigon, Samuel Kellum, Jamie Polakoff and Ian Valdez, while McKenzie Melius, Bridgid Selfors, Mary Catherine Stovall, Pauline Helm and Paige Fatland round out the roster for the women's team.
