Nov 18, 2019 | Women's Volleyball
NEW ORLEANS, La. – For the final time this season, Tulane volleyball senior Kaylie McHugh was named to the American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll the league announced Monday afternoon.
It's the eighth time a Tulane player has been recognized by the league, and the third time the Davie, Florida, native has been honored by the conference this season. McHugh was named the conference's defensive player of the week on September 9 and made the honor roll on October 14, while middle hitter Kayla Dinkins was named to the weekly honor roll twice, with Lauryn Green, Yvette Burcescu and Lexie Douglas earning honors once.
In her final two regular season matches at Tulane, McHugh averaged 5.12 digs per set in contests against SMU and Memphis. She also averaged better than an assist per set and nearly half a service ace per set.
Against the Mustangs, McHugh finished with 23 digs and served up six assists with a service ace in Dallas, while moving on to Memphis where she had 18 digs, four assists and two services aces against the Tigers.
Tulane is the fifth seed heading into this weekend's inaugural American Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship, where the Green Wave will take on the Houston Cougars who are seeded fourth at 5 p.m. CT in Orlando. The winner will take on regular-season champion and top seed Cincinnati in the semifinals on Saturday afternoon.
