No. 17 Men's Tennis Falls to LSU, 4-3
Feb 1, 2019 | Men's Tennis
LSU (5-1) surged to a convincing doubles point victory, winning by multiple breaks on all three courts to claim an early 1-0 lead in the overall match. It marked the the third straight match in which Tulane (4-1) was unsuccessful in claiming the doubles point.
The Green Wave were forced to once again overcome the early deficit with tough singles play, as junior and 42nd-ranked Luis Erlenbusch cruised to a straight set victory on court two to put the Wave on the scoreboard.

The Tigers were quick to respond with a straight-set win of their own on court four, but less than a minute later, sophomore Akos Kotorman closed out No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-2, to level the overall match, 2-2.
Senior and No. 58 Tyler Schick battled back from a lost first set to battle back from a 3-2 deficit and a 5-5 tie in the second frame to close it out, 7-5. He used that momentum to rally in the third set, 6-4, and give the Green Wave their first lead of the afternoon, 3-2.
After dropping a tough, three-set battle at No. 1 singles, sophomore Hamish Stewart found himself in a great position to complete the comeback for Tulane with a 6-4, first-set triumph. Despite dropping the second set, 7-6(1), Stewart jumped out to a 5-2 advantage in the third, but was unable to hold on, as Malik Bhatnagar fought off a handful of match points, rallied to win the set and clinch the overall match for LSU.
Tulane will take eight days off before heading to Lubbock, Texas to take on No. 3 Mississippi State on Saturday, February 9. The Green Wave will then face Texas Tech the following day.
